Think steaming char siew buns, fresh har gao, and crispy egg tarts.

Dim sum has always been a popular Cantonese delicacy enjoyed during brunch or afternoon tea. What better way to enjoy a lazy weekend than with a table full of piping hot dim sum delicacies with your family and friends? Here are our favourite dim sum restaurants in Singapore.

1. Dim Sum Haus
Jalan Besar is known for many things, and dim sum is certainly one of them. Stroll along the narrow streets of Jalan Besar on a weekend and you'll notice throngs of people lining up outside famous dim sum restaurants such as Dim Sum Haus and Swee Choon. Be sure to check out Dim Sum Haus's range of traditional handmade dim sum with modern twists like their Steamed Charcoal Chicken & Shrimp Dumpling and Japanese Dumplings.

2. Yum Cha
One of the first restaurants to introduce dim sum in Singapore, Yum Cha needs no introduction. At its Chinatown branch, reservations or an early start to Yum Cha are a must, or you will wait too long for a seat, and see your favourite dim sum disappear from the carts.

4. Swee Choon Tim Sum Restaurant
Located at Jalan Besar, here’s another supper joint to satiate your midnight dim sum cravings. Said to have some of the best dim sum in town, you’ll also find unique dishes like Drunken Chicken in Shaoxing Wine, Sichuan Chilli Oil Wanton, and Zha Jiang La Mian.

5. The Dim Sum Place
If you’re looking for halal dim sum, this place at North Bridge Road serves a variety of dishes that comes very close to the real deal. The famed Michelin-star and recognised Hong Kong brand needs no introduction. The brand first opened its first branch in Singapore in 2013 with its time-tested recipes, and it’s never looked back since. Highlights here are its Baked Bun with BBQ Pork, Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, and Lo Bak Go (carrot cake).

7. Black Society
