What is Goyohan Soul
Conveniently nestled in the heart of downtown Singapore, Goyohan Soul is a Korean restaurant and bar that is located at Marina Bay Link Mall. Serving hearty Korean meals for the rushing lunch crowd and having an array of alcohol choices for after-work parties; this restaurant and bar welcomes everyone working at the Central Business District (CBD) to come and unwind.
Backstory
Goyohan Soul is opened by the Keh Family – Oliver and Cesar Keh. Oliver Keh, 23, was first diagnosed with a very rare cancer at the age of 16 after a school’s annual body checkup detected a lump on his neck. Given only a couple of months to live, Oliver nearly gave up on his education, thinking, “What’s the point of studying if I’m going to die?” However, he persevered. Now a recent graduate of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Oliver recalled his father asking him, “What happens if you don’t die?”. This question sparked a positive perspective, motivating him to continue with his education and life.
Soon enough, months turned into years, during which he kept a positive outlook on life and pursued different business opportunities despite battling the many side effects of cancer drugs. With his entrepreneurial father’s wisdom and support, Oliver remained focused on the business rather than his illness, a healthy distraction that helps drives him.
Cesar, on the other hand, faced a different set of challenges in the F&B business. As a vegetarian chef, his journey has been unique, especially since meat often takes center stage when it comes to creating dishes. However, through the years, Cesar has embraced this difference as a growth opportunity and even developed a refined sense of smell to help him distinguish various meats and seafood by aroma alone!
Cooking has become a form of art for him, where each ingredient has become an important asset that contributes to a final masterpiece. With strong and crucial support from his team, their feedback on his creation helps him refine his dishes and bring them to life. Cesar’s long-term passion lies in expanding vegetarian cuisine, aiming to create satisfying and flavourful vegetarian dishes, showcasing the creative potential of vegetarian cooking.
This year, Oliver and Cesar are excited about expanding their business and looking to open more F&B chains around Singapore. Not only can you find Goyohan Soul at Marina Bay Link Mall, you’ll also be able to spot their budget-friendly eatery – Roast & Roll, selling affordable Yong Tau Foo Soup and bento sets!
