Maldives

The island paradise, which is home to some of the prettiest sights and luxury resorts, may once have been a pipe dream, with plane tickets costing an arm and a leg, and resorts, even more so. These days, traveling to the Maldives is more attainable thanks to the low-cost fares from airlines such as Tiger Air, and Singapore Airlines. With the opening of guesthouses, you can now stay on the island for less than $100 a night, while still being able to enjoy the pristine beaches on the islands.

Krabi, Thailand

Located on the west coast of Southern Thailand, facing the Andaman Sea, Krabi offers clear turquoise waters, pristine white coastlines, and laidback vibes. One of the things you cannot miss there, are the island-hopping tours that let you relax by the beach, frolic in the waters, or engage in water activities such as paddleboarding, kayaking, or even snorkelling! At night, feast on the affordable Thai food and drinks available on the main street.

Penang, Malaysia

Between its ornate heritage buildings and clan houses, as well as its modern hipster environment (think the famous Ernest Zacharevich murals dotting the city’s street walls), there’s plenty more to offer in Penang. The city, which derives its unique identity and cuisine from a melting pot of cultures, is known as the unofficial food capital of Malaysia, with its Penang Assam Laksa, Penang Char Kuay Teow. Its beaches and jetties, especially the famous clan jetties, are also not to be missed.

Canada

If you’re one for the great outdoors, there is plenty Canada has to offer. From postcard-perfect Vancouver with its proximity to the North Shore Mountains, to Yukon, where you might get to see the Northern Lights if you’re lucky, it may take more than one trip to cover the nation’s highlights.

Australia

The land Down Under is known for its eclectic wildlife, adorable animals, and laidback lifestyle. Its weather, if you know when to visit, is fantastic too. Look to Melbourne for its strong arts culture and cafes; Sydney for its history, the Opera House, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge; Brisbane for its proximity to the Gold Coast and hipster vibes; and Perth for its laidback and countryside views.
