Known for its award-winning Tendon, this dish is a five-time gold medalist at Japan’s Donburi Awards. Formerly occupied by The Co-Op, Éla is a dreamy Greek cuisine restaurant that’s also managed by The Black Hole Group. One of the only Halal Greek restaurants in Singapore, step into an elegantly designed space with neutral Earth tones, coupled with ambient lighting for a cosy dining experience. Try starters such as Spicy Feta Dip ($8.90) and Cucumber Yoghurt Dip ($8.90) that’ll take you to Santorini.

You’ll be glad to know there’s a Halal Thai restaurant at Bukit Timah, located on the same stretch as the famous supper spot, Al-Azhar Restaurant. Easy on the wallet, dishes here are affordably priced and big on portions. Finding Halal Mexican cuisine in Singapore is no easy feat as they usually contain pork. But the good folks at Jalapeno Southwest is one of the very few dishing out Halal tacos and quesadillas, at an affordable price. Besides its brightly coloured interior with artistic illustrations, we can’t rave enough of the Chicken Quesadilla ($10.90) – grilled chicken, cheese, sautéed onions and pickled jalapeno is a blessed marriage of flavours. But the view from the restaurant of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the swimming pool on the ground floor is probably one of the best in West Singapore. They are known for serving an extensive menu of Asian, Western and Mediterranean cuisines, there is definitely something for everyone.

Make sure you save some room for dessert – satisfy your sweet tooth with the Lavender Cream Brulee, Cocoa Colony Belgian Waffles and Granny Smith Apple Crumble that’ll wrap up your meal beautifully. Request for the seats by the glass window, overlooking the pool for a pleasant dining experience.

Treat your family to a spread at Yassin Kampung Seafood (Clementi)! With a brightly lit al fresco dining area, embellished with fairy lights and rattan chairs, it is the perfect restaurant for family dinners. Their other outlets are located at Admiralty, Marsiling and Bedok.

They serve excellent Zi Char dishes that hit all the right spots. If you’re up for something that’ll awaken your senses, order the Kampung Durian Chicken that almost looks like a salted egg yolk chicken (except it’s not!). Once you have a closer look, you’ll smell the aromatic durian scent – a must-try for durian lovers! Although every piece is coated with the durian gravy, the chicken is still crispy and juicy.
