Green tea lovers rejoice! There’s an ice cream shop that specialises in just green tea products which resemble quaint matcha cafes in Kyoto, Japan. Started from a humble pop-up at Icon Village in Tanjong Pagar, Matchaya is a home-grown brand that has now found its home at The Cathay in Dhoby Ghaut.

The shop has an impressive menu, offering more than 80 items, and our favourite is their Matcha Soft Serve, which uses raw ingredients that are organic-certified with no added preservatives. The matcha flavour boasts a strong and intense bitterness that all matcha lovers will enjoy. However, if that’s too strong for you, opt for the Genmaicha Soft Serve which is a mixture of roasted brown rice and green tea.

Matchaya also has takeaway tubs such as the Uji Matcha Soft Serve, Houjicha Soft Serve Tub, Kurogoma (Black Sesame) Soft Serve and Hokkaido Milk Soft Serve, all retailing at $14.90 per tub.
